My journey with natural Hair and Skincare began with a deep dive into Tantric puja rituals. As a Tantric worship and temple researcher, I've spent years uncovering the secrets of ancient rituals and practices. My journey has taken me deep into the heart of Kerala's rich cultural heritage, where I've discovered the powerful connection between nature, spirituality, and self-care. I was fascinated by the fragrant and vibrant flowers, seeds, and herbs that added an aesthetic vibe to the tantric rituals. From the Palasha in the Himalayas to the trumpet flowers in the Nilgiris, or even the widespread red shoe flower, I discovered that these flowers were considered auspicious, offered to deities, and possessed healing powers in beauty care. This unspoken connection between beauty and worship is the silent ground upon which the worship of the Divine is constructed.

The pandemic was when I became intensely aware of my body—how precious it was yet so delicate. My eyes opened suddenly to my thinning hair and roughening skin, to the neglect beginning to impact this superb vehicle of my earthly sojourn. I decided to turn those dark days into a time for rest and rejuvenation.

I started by searching for a natural cure for my thinning hair. I turned to examine closely the herbal hair oils my mother and aunt used to prepare at home patiently, talked to Ayurvedic physicians, and studied all available literature on hair care. After a lot of research and experimentation with several plants' leaves, flowers, and roots, I could successfully blend all the goodness of red hibiscus, aloe vera, indigo and several other herbs in a base of organic oils. Ila’s oil received terrific reviews from women of all ages – from teenagers to senior citizens. I named my first product ‘ila’, which means ‘leaf’ in my mother tongue, Malayalam, because to me, the body is just like a leaf, Nature’s exquisite creation.
